Omega 6 and Omega 3: The Difference and the Balance

We are taught to be well versed in our healthy oils, by eating lots of them and not to worry about fat that is deemed “healthy,” and refrain from eating processed carbohydrates (because that is what makes us fat). But taking a step beyond fat and weight gain, I challenge everyone to look at body inflammation and what is making us “sick”. What I have been finding is that most people are simply too inflamed and are consuming way too much Omega 6 on a regular basis. Though there is a large spectrum of Omega 6 and Omega 3 (poly unsaturated) rich sources, the key is to eat from low Omega 6 sources and high Omega 3 sources and maintain an anti-inflammatory diet. Further more, most people do not understand the difference between the specific Omegas, and how eating the different ratios of specific Omegas is a direct translation into how we feel, look, how our body functions, and yes, weight gain as well.

Hair Loss Causes, Rogaine, and Natural Remedies

Our modern day society places great importance on youth and vitality. Superficially and animalistically assuming the key factors of optimum health lies in feeling ageless, exuding with energy and boasting sexiness and confidence. In the perspective of the popular majority (especially in the cosmopolitan areas of the modern world), when it comes to what is deemed most desirable health and ideal mates, a blemish free and wrinkleless skin tone as well as a full head of thick and voluminous hair (for both men and women) came out on top. While the struggle for many aging adults to keep that picture of the “youth” that is both desirable and sexy in their minds, and going through many hurdles to defy mother nature’s natural sequence of aging and shedding of hair, especially for hair growth and facing adult alopecia, popular surgical and non surgical extremes are practiced. There are many reasons why people may lose hair: after pregnancy, during menopause, andropause, autoimmune diseases, traction alopecia, thyroid disorders, during and after radiation and chemotherapy, high levels of mercury or metal toxins in the body system, or vitamin and mineral deficiencies are all possible causes.

Introduction to Ayurveda Healing Practice: Natural Ways to Live Optimally Well

Ayurveda is an Eastern Indian medical system based off of the foundations of conscious, self-awareness and natural healing that has been practiced for over 5,000 years and is literately translated as “the science of daily life.” Very different from the Western aspect of medical symptom-addressing and (unfortunate) modern medical paradigm shift into ignoring underlying causality of chronic disease and infection, Ayurveda takes mother nature’s natural rhythms, earthly bountiful fruits and foods and uses the understanding of the individual’s body make up and life condition routine to promote optimal function, balance, disease prevention and a evoke a state of intentional gratefulness and happiness.

New Year’s Resolutions. Not always pain free.

It may seem like a double edged sword: fulfilling number one on the New Year’s resolution list, “Lose weight and exercise more”, cut to heal, foot, and joint pain. It is actually a blessing to work yourself toward health and fitness pain free. Most people complain of joint and back pain from the high impact of exercising (namely running or other compounding sports), or muscle soreness from pushing through a tough workout or a lack of quality stretching. People hang motivational posters of muscular athletes drenched in sweat with sayings such as, “It will hurt, take time, require dedication, willpower, sacrifice . . . but it will be worth it.” But with pain in play, many people put their New Year’s resolutions to test. Is this why the majority of people who declare their new year’s resolution and goals on the 1st of the year later admit failing to reach them before the year is over?
